VIODA is pleased to announce the appointment of David White as VIODA State Coach.

In that period, he coached with James Grogan Hugo Llewelyn, Sophie Jackson, Jack Lewis, Nick Sharman, Lockie Dare, Harrison Sly, Nick Joel, Campbell Rickard, Stan Austin to name a few. Since then, they all became regatta champions and coaches.

Since 2014, David has always been involved with the VIODA community as a VIC coach, Australian coach, regatta organiser and last but not least, he built a strong Optimist program and fleet at SSCBC in recent years.

David started sailing in his Optimist 24 years ago in Ireland and progressed down the Laser, 420 and University Team Racing pathway. He has represented Ireland in each class and recently by default has represented Australia in Team Racing competitions as well.

David is specialised in Optimist Class coaching. He has worked with the class for 16 years working his way from green fleet up to being the National Coach for Ireland and Australia at IODA majors Championships.

David, current Training and Development Manager at SSCBC, is keen to support while the winter activity at SSCBC allows him to. This is a temporary assignment till September while VIODA continues its search for a more permanent VIODA Head coach.

Working within the Victoria State restrictions, David is very motivated to get VIODA members in the best position for the 2020/21 season.
